Abstract Renewing our Public Health Strategy is an opportunity for us to reflect on what we have achieved with our partners to improve the health and wellbeing of Barnsley residents and reduce health inequalities within the borough. The three year Public Health Strategy was launched in 2015 with three key public health priorities: to improve oral health of children, create a smoke free generation and increase levels of physical activity. Supporting these priorities are four long term public health outcomes. These centre on residents starting life and staying healthy, living longer healthier lives, narrowing the life expectancy gap and protecting our communities from harm, health incidents and preventable health threats. Three years on, the Strategy has achieved 'evidence into action' and has successfully: - reduced smoking prevalence, improved oral health in children and increased levels of physical activity through partnership work with all agencies in the borough. Examples of this work include:- working to provide more intensive exposure to fluoride as children grow up, both at home, school and in dental practice, supporting inactive children, young people and adults, leading the development of smoke free markets, smoke free play parks to smoke free schools. We want to renew our actions for a healthier Barnsley by working collaboratively to improve our residents health and wellbeing at an accelerated pace. This approach strengthens our efforts on prioritising policy level action to support individual behaviour change in order to improve healthy life expectancy and reduce health inequalities.
