Abstract Introduction:Domestic Abuse (DA) is a hidden harm which has huge physical and emotional impacts on victims and their families. DA has a toxic effect on children including their ability to develop, achieve and lead fulfilling lives. Late intervention relating to DA costs Norfolk Children's Services £88 million/year, therefore it is essential that DA is seen as 'everyone's business' and victims are identified and supported at the earliest opportunity. The Project:Norfolk's DA partnership had an ambition to train individuals in front line roles to spot the signs of DA, make sensitive enquiry, respond appropriately to disclosure and offer support. It was from this idea the DA Change Coordinator Programme was designed. The programme employs 3 coordinators who offer a free 2-day training course around DA to improve the understanding and confidence of individuals working within a wide range of frontline services. This year the focus is on Health and Education, recognising that many victims unknown to police or specialist support have had contact with these universal services.Outcomes and Conclusions:Over 1,000 DA 'champions' have been trained across Norfolk, an achievement that has received both local and national recognition. An annual survey of champions identified that 88% of champions have signposted to specialised DA support as part of their role. This means that more victims are identified and offered appropriate support at an earlier stage, reducing risk and the costs associated with late intervention for the whole family.
