Abstract Introduction:In 2016 Kirklees Health and Wellbeing Board reviewed its approach to Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) production. Previous JSNAs consisted of a collection of printed and static PDF documents which were difficult to create, update and navigate.Method:Moving the JSNA (redefined as Kirklees Joint Strategic Assessment (KJSA)) to a web-based platform provides several benefits:• Rolling updating schedule enables an even distribution of work;• Section updates timed to coincide with newly available data;• Live data extracted from Kirklees Observatory (on same InstantAtlas platform) into embedded widgets;• Hyperlinks established between sections and to external resources;• Focus on key messages by signposting to more detailed content;• Consistent highlighting of overarching themes, including reducing inequalities, working towards a healthier, fairer society;• Intuitive and collapsible menu systems ensure easy navigation;• Visual and dynamic elements incorporated (embedded videos, data visualisations, infographics);• A blog engages users, promotes new content and encourages feedback;• Web analytics inform future site developments. Results:Since launching in May 2016, the KJSA has had over 10,000 page views and around 1,700 users. New content is created in partnership with key stakeholders across the council, NHS and third sector organisations. Guest bloggers write blog posts to demonstrate the value of new intelligence. Conclusion:An online platform delivers local intelligence and engages users in creative and unconventional ways, ensuring key messages are conveyed effectively and memorably. The flexibility to update sections separately rather than simultaneously distributes the burden of work and enables active stakeholder engagement in development. The KJSA is available here:
