Abstract As a Marmot city, Coventry and its key partners committed to developing an innovative integrated model of care to improve children's health and wellbeing and give every child the best start in life. The Acting Early model coproduced with parents and staff aims to promote earlier intervention of vulnerable children and families. By reconfiguring community midwifery, health visiting and children's centre services into smaller locality specific teams the model facilitates continuity of care and greater accountability for children's outcomes. Two 'demonstrator sites piloted the approach and it has rolled out across the city to 17 localities. A new information sharing agreement has removed barriers around integrated working and aids greater communication between professionals. Multiagency case meetings allow vulnerable families with unmet needs to be identified earlier. A transformational workforce development programme has provided service improvement skills to embed the new approach. A parent leadership programme empowers parents to work alongside professionals to shape local services.Early evaluation findings have reported 100% of staff feel more confident in adopting the new approach. Staff report closer working relationships and earlier identification of need. Parents report advice is more consistent and better awareness of the local offer. In the demonstrator sites, preliminary data shows breastfeeding initiation improvements from 74.9% (13/14) to 78.3%(15/16) and a 14.1% increase in breastfeeding 6-8 weeks.Acting Early has been extremely beneficial in ensuring every child gets the best start. Based on the positive impact of the programme, an Acting Early 0-19 Model is currently being developed.
